Christian Mumford This is beautiful psychedelic folkish stuff in tradition with Tom Rapp or The Mooseheart Faith! The strings, synths, vocals and lyrics evoke a feeling of having met Anthony X somewhere! The fact that he is a Dotz fan makes it more complete! Favorite track: WHITE JESUS.

GULLAH 01:41
Gullah. Watch me Touch you With nothing more Than voodoo The way you do The things with no clue While strings of sinew Pull you Watch me Teach you The most arcane angel In the sunshine’s obtuse angles Was a black faced ruddy fleeced Whisperer of peace Beguiler of the Great beast Which leashed and lashed Drowned I, burned I, slashed But could not kill the moaning Of time’s frothing calabash Released Remembering Replenishing Evolving. #axj23

BONES 02:13
Bones. You thought you’d never fight alone But all your allies had turned to stone So concerned with paying off their homes They left you on the streets throwing bones They licked the boots of those you chide They picked a fight, they chose a side Where everything is washed white Where a blustering child picks up their flight Where the right side is blurred Where all their anarchy demurred To crowd control and tear gas Knocking old men on their ass You thought your brothers wore Doc Martens But found the majority frightened Holding tightly to a deposit slip While praising the firing of pepper bullets Impervious, until after the fact All the freedoms they cower for Have been torn back We all stand on the other side Of the White House’s black fence We all get wet when we step into A hypocrisy storm which won’t relent. You thought you’d never fight alone But your heroes looked the monster of bigotry In her screaming face They all turned to stone They traded principles for Tract homes They left you naked in the streets Throwing bones.

WHITE JESUS 03:18
White Jesus. White Jesus Don’t care about the truth White Jesus Doesn’t revel in pure proof White Jesus Threw a grenade through the roof White Jesus Nails the ear of a Viet Cong To the White House door As he kisses the devil’s hooves. White Jesus Likes his lines nice and straight As he dances the Gobi nights away In a frenzied, corpulent disarray While the disco light shimmers He adds more coke to the plate White Jesus Steps up behind the riot shield Assuring the shaking rookie He should savor the fear he feels As his finger itches on the trigger To fire into the crowd of bleeding hearts Voices demanding meaning to the life of Unknown figures In the wrath of the math After the fact of death at the hands of cops In full daylight and witness Once he starts, He cannot stop... Oh, White Jesus White Jesus Is the bullet in your chest White Jesus Twists his matted hair Smoking clove cigarettes White Jesus Lobs a Molotov cocktail At the Metro PCS White Jesus Then runs along home to watch the news With no regrets White Jesus Knew all along You’d forget That Jesus Was a Black man Killed by the Romans In broad daylight With plenty to witness. #axj23

DUSK 03:23
Dusky. You belong in the sun Because root beer Rose gold lips gloss Is all the rage at the riots. The O.Gs all offered free lap dances To the indelicate riot cops who Stole awkward too long Sidelong glances at their Crip walks Along with all the disheveled priests on their knees who admonished the suburban housewives To try like hell not to gawk As their lust made them weep Though they prayed, it wouldn't stop You belong well toasted and light bright With your petulance and pout clouding up the wind farm On fire because you winked one time At the turbines which had decided to stop while all the sheep stood swooning On buckling knees, their heads were rolling from side to side With an ancient poetry that leaves the locals mute, savagely grinning I told try to understand how this grown man cried To quash this tremendous Tremulous thirst That swept The dusk from west to east Consumed the sky in cloudbursts Of severe thunderous heat so palpable you could eat Because you were Root beer Rose gold Lip gloss When you kissed the sky All the birds, for song Were at a loss As we kissed the ground you walked on For one minute all the violence in the cities stopped And the love could abound Because you were root beer rose gold lip gloss. #axj23

BLACK MATTER 02:29
Black Matter. Find me I am you Red Yellow Brown Poor White Jew. If you find me The shepherd won’t know what to do When the whole flock turns When we get a clue Divide and conquer Becomes Divine and Prosper. Find me In the mirror Minus terror I am your eyes I am your voice I am your mouth I am your words I am your truth I am your future Find me They locked me away From you. Find me They told me I couldn’t do What you do Find me I’ve been in The White House The Supreme Court too I am the black matter Find me Your pulse I am the black matter Shining within you. Find me I will not fail you Find me I’m looking right at you I am the black matter Between the blink of your eyes On the tip of your tongue Dancing with a thousand angels On the trigger of a gun I am the black matter Waiting for your song to have begun #axj23

VOTE 02:57
Vote. Imagine being so afraid Of losing stolen power That every step of the way You must kill Rob, burn Terrorize A whole nation within a nation Stripped of A face, a place at the table An entrance through the front door When without my people You wouldn’t be where you are America is schizophrenic Already split But falling into division after division derision after derision and we glorify it we revel in it What great fear it takes To look yourself in the mirror Erected by your enslaved brother to see his face in it But deny it even further A nation as such Stands no chance A nation as such Is cursed to drunkenly dance To repeat A fear so great It takes a whole month Of riots to expose it. #axj23

Steal this poem! I tried with all my heart I did impossible flights Of aloof and nonchalant All over your panic stricken walls Your faces shocked yet enthralled Nothing I do is quite small And I held you aloft for the sun god To scrutinize, hoping he'd not see The ever weakening conviction In his truth in my eyes I suppose that's how it goes We trade in our whims for heroes Supernatural foibles Wretched creaking pages and the brill Bell tolls Bring out your dead But Leave on your clothes... Who will help the widow's son? Nobody ever knows So I sit as far back in the breadth of A secret shadow A societry of sapped marrow Beguiles the moral Estranged husbandry of misguided Poison arrows Nobody knows... Hope Nothing Shows. Bring out your dead Leave on your clothes Bring out your dead The moot bell strolls a fancy dance Of indifference In your haughty hands Right off a cliff The saddest part of the riddle Is when some smartass Answers it So Make like a schizophrenic And split. #blaxpoetix 6/22/17

about

ANTHONY XAVIER JACKSON California

I am a spoken word artist whose passion is music. I use a variety of media to render my works, including traditional instrumentation such as guitar, bass and drums. I also employ synths and all the tools of my DAW to make improv pieces to back my poetry.
LPD, Burroughs, Tear Garden, Watts Prophets, Last Poets, Radiohead… so many influences.
Enjoy.
