MISSING TEETH

|

Missing Teeth.
Touch me
You cannot calm me
You cannot reach me anymore.
Call me
You don’t remember clearly
You have no notion who I am,
Why you’re bored
So
Bleed me
Hold me over the reservoir of your abattoir
With a Coke and a smile
Convince me
You haven’t seen a death so pretty in a while
I’m missing teeth
I’m ominous beep
I’m arthritic entropy
Replete with tame anarchy
Our ever so
Resplendent torpor felled a tree
Next to the church named misery
Tell me
You cannot see me
How You don’t believe in ghosts
You never ever heard of disembodied entities
Convince me
You know exactly how to coax a rabid
Squirrel right out of a tree
With air and BBs
A smile so slimy
Estrange me
I won’t eat your greens, lady
Can’t abide your burnt cornbread
Your disarrayed fricassee annoys me
Why don’t you
Slave me
Please
Stave me
Why don’t you
Shave me
Please save me
Oh can’t you see
I’m missing teeth
I’m ominous beep
I’m arthritic entropy
Replete with tame anarchy
Our ever so
Resplendent torpor felled a tree
Next to the church named misery

THE ROBOT WARS
03:34
|
|||
The Robot Wars
There’s a wing of Napa Hospital reserved
For the fledgling self aware AI who fought
Then returned with the burden of guilt
From the Iraqi/Russian/Pakistani
Robot wars.
There came a day humans refused to die anymore for causes no one could quite put a finger on. So out of this came the explosion of
Machines to grind down our government’s gripes upon. We were soon followed by Pakistan, Russia and Japan. Some Chinese infidel sold the secrets to Iraq and Iran. So now Jerusalem has become the arena where our robots wage war, endlessly destroyed, dismantled and then reassembled again. After 2 generations no one is even sure why it began.
One day the AI became self aware
There were protests and the robots laid their
Cannons down and demanded respect as living beings. We tried to nuke them, didn’t work, we tried to bribe them, but machines can’t be bought with booze or sleaze.
So we had to open our doors to the self aware
AI who’d fought in the robot wars
They now get SSI
They have there own state where Montana used to be, we even house some of the more
Traumatized ones in the state mental hospitals where we solved the homeless problem by providing them therapy human to reassure they stay nice and calm...
I mean, who would want to have to deal with
The PTSD of a warrior grade robot triggered by the wrong TV show or some renegade writing on a social media app? All hell could break loose... like in the Robot Wars
No one can quite remember why they started in the first place.

SORCERY
02:48
|
|||
Sorcery.
I know where your secret
Kisses flew to
I know what your great grandmother
Certainly knew...
About you
There are bats in floral crowns
There are soldiers who refuse
To lay their arms down
There is Tsunami slap dash
Fluttering around the way you walk
The way you sash
Slash the air with heavy metal
Every time you pass
My bated breath
You stalk
With your whip lash
Eye batting thunder blasts
After the gasp of lightning
Sorcery
Surely
Inviting
Casts
Hermes depraved
Falling from heaven
Into the pillow of your breath
Which always leavens
Reaching
Reaping
Snake charming
Lessons...

DOGS
03:40
|
|||
Dogs.
Your smile glared
No idea
You were dead inside
You have such radiant eyes
Framed like an owl’s
Where you can’t avoid feeling followed
By them
1500 miles away they watch me
Chopping carrots
Chastising my cat
For drowning her toys
Watching a boring comedienne
Dying
With a laugh that has the texture of
Imaginary sun
Maybe we're all dogs howling
At owls we think are calling
So never mind
I shall sleep now
So your eyes cannot follow me further
Into the area where I know too much
Your extinction glaring like a rain starved fire
Your disgusting habit
Making me shave you
For far too much money
While I imagine the poetry of your privacy
Precisely written in DNA
To be some glaring hieroglyphs
Dispensing lazy eyed bared teeth
We all must reach
To say
Stop
The broken sunlight
Scatters across the crease
Of a barbaric beach
Stop
Look
Listen
Retreat.
Maybe we're all dogs howling
At owls we think are calling.

The Tragic Absence of a Safe Word
I’m standing right In front of you
But you can’t see me
I’m breathing right onto you
But you can’t feel me
I’m yelling your name so clearly
It’s true, but
You can’t hear me
I ask if you’re uncomfortable
You just stare blankly instead
I guess I should know better
In those fetters
You can’t ever again nod your head
Because you’re dead
Dead
Dead
Dead.
I want you to admire my clever lunacy
But you can’t see me
To compliment my compulsive accuracy
But you can’t speak to me
To tell me you love me
Well, don’t you love me?
I’m right in front of you
But you can’t see
I ask if you’d like a hospital
But you only stare blankly instead
I guess I should know better
In these fetters
You can’t ever again nod your head
Because we’re dead
Dead
Dead
Dead
I probably should go just get going to the light
Instead
Dead
Dead
Dead.

HANDS
01:38
|
|||
Hands.
Sometimes
I watch you in a mirror
Fogged up with the flagrant excitement
I feel when you sleep
I step on my hands to run
Over to you
Send my fingers through your hair
Chanting a Buddhist song
I can never remember the words to
Your breath sweet like wine sweeps
Over my heavy fingers
I eat the eye of the storm
I taste the salt of the earth
Then my cat bites me
I fall out of bed
I drink tea with my cookies
I fall asleep in the middle of the film
Which is you
Stretching my mouth wide with your smile
As your tongue defies me
Catch me if you dare
Signs in cursive
Your secret name
Across my wandering
Hands
So I watch you
In a mirror
After you pass out
Exhausted from the ride
Breathing
Reassurance
Into the ions between us
As they drunkenly collapse
Collide
My hands
Tied.

WORMWOOD STAR
06:18
|
|||
The Wormwood Star.
In the loftiness of distance
Between your bated breath and wisdom
I sought to navigate the circumference
Of a star which implodes under distaste of schism
I held your hand in my fingers
The light of your foil bandage glimmered
Like a flick of the wrist
Excites the malingerers
Like the promise of death
Provokes the nihilists
To lust and salivate for danger
You hand so sweet and supple
Not any softer from anger
I’ll fall with you
As much as you wish me to
Until a third of the earth falls too
Until our biomes become glue
I’ll sink with you
As much you want me to
Until the sun turns black
Then the moon turns blue
I’ll fall with you.
In the silence laughter breached between
The truth and what pastors speak
I sought to make of your bright smile
Something far less oblique
Something full of teeth
Something nice and complete
Like the Wormwood Star falling on
Manhattan Beach
Like an angel swinging a sword outside
A land we can no longer reach
I held your other hand in my scorched fingers
The smoke from the sortie still lingers
You’d have forgotten me by now
I’m sue your brain is sore
What with your torso on the roof and your mouth on the floor
Your hand so soft and supple
Won’t be warm much more
I’ll fall with you
As much as you wish me to
Until a third of the earth falls too
Until our biomes become glue
I’ll sink with you
As much you want me to
Until the sun turns black
Then the moon turns blue.
I’ll fall with you.

THE SNITCH
03:28
|
|||
The Snitch.
Who you’ve always been
We know
Your hands are dirty
You have no idea
How terrible you are at lying
There where your dog offers
Me a cigarette
Because she’s given up
Surrounded by junkies
Smoking poison off of aluminum foil.
We know your type
Shifty eyed
Polite
We know your type
Always looking over your shoulder
uptight
We always know who you are
Walking in these puddles of brackish water
Like Jesus Christ Superstar
Where the Bible salesman elopes with
The girl with far away eyes whom
Only he can see
She’s stealing his wallet
So she can buy you vegan
Chocolate croissants while you
Explain to whoever listens
You’d like to be able to tell
The ones you sold down the river
The truth finally
The truth
easily
You were brittle
Full of insouciance
Pale around your dry mouth
Plagued with sagging laugh lines
You were tickled pink
As you watched them all harangued
Into a deep dank and dark ship
For a one way trip
To hell.
Who you’ve always been
We know you
Broken wings and all
Crooked smile
Even your wife won’t kiss
Standing there drooling in the hall
You need say no more
We knew you’d fall.

SOLOMON
02:18
|
|||
Solomon.
The music of your musk
Surrounds me
I am insulated
The terror couples
The swollen tongues
The segueing meanderings
Which show up unannounced
In my front yard
Persuading the sleepy giant
To let them in a while
So they can tell tall tales
All disappear
Like highly dysfunctional
Presidents
Will
They evaporate
With slothful stealth
Like the polar ice caps
Melt
They fade so slowly away
Like a Snapchat filtered smile
All the ones and zeros
Coated with plutonium
All the Sinew and bones
Bumping us away
In the giant’s stew
None of it compares
You engulf me
My ever bright flame
Place your lips upon
My rapid blooming eyelids
Morse code
Your name
The music of your musk
Lilts
Promises
This world
Never again
Mundane.
This world
Never again
The same

THEN IMPLODE
06:34
|
|||
Then Implode
Hush now baby
My shrill robotic son
Just ignore the caterwaul
Of that Gatling gun
Though it dots automatic
Dances on Comanche ancestral bones
Have a spoonful of sunshine honey
Assuage the awful tone
Of hell brought to earth by a whimsy
Song
Hush now baby
My flunky one
Slake another beer as I sing
To you this haunting tale of how
Born you'd become
Bursting waters brought forth like
Athena from my brow, anathemas
Explosive crema
Just a dream we stalk around bonnie
Fires of unsullied crystals
Now
How
If the horizon's bison
Stampede hazy recall of
Phoenix fall
Straight to the marrow
Light a path where
Aftermath fills quivers full
Of regret killing arrows
Line your sights
With that with which audacious rancor
Bites the cherubs dancing round
The damage in your head's ankles
Make the firing pin spin
Infinity from the cankle of sorrows
A trail of borrowed teardrops
Stops the opiate of denial
Hush now my
Shrill robotic son
Rest well with the assured
Shaking of shores
Which marks
The Beast
Splendiferous
In arrival
Like our faith
Famous stars will fall
Strangers to abomination
No more
Then Implode
Halfway to the fnords
Just walked through the walls
Of the liquor store
Can't reach you
Anymore.

Remorse...
( A top of the head recitation/ stream of consciousness sketch of a song to be... Likely riddled with mistakes thanks to text to speech. )
Sorry for my human being with the way it's made you cry I'm sorry if you don't like my teasing you can have all your toys back when we die I'm sorry for my human being the way it misbehaves I cast my eyes down in shame my dear for the misgivings and shade. I'm sorry for the war-torn mornings that have capsized your ancestral ships the way old pastor Ned has fled the scene he won't even leave a tip though they printed jesus's face upon all of this poker chips I'm sorry for my human being the way it never tells you whether the sun in hell is shining I'm sorry for my human being so desperate to walk on the Moon while all my children ragged and ripped go the running around like common loons I'm sorry for my human being all the promises made the way blood spills freely across the plains for some poor bastards crusade I'm sorry for my human being the way it makes the immigrants shake when we round them up and throw them all into the middle of the tire fire raging on Michigan Lake I'm sorry I can't help myself least of all not you I'm sorry for my human being the nobility of which is not true. I'm sorry for my human being who dances a jig on the ashes of Hiroshima under the head of a pig I'm sorry for my human being I have no way of explaining what he did. I'm sorry for my human being he's under the impression he's the king's kid I'm sorry for my human being and all the shadows in which he is hid.
I'm sorry for my human being the way it's made you cry...
you don't like my teasing you can have all your toys back after we die...

WHAT CANDY? WHAT TREES?
06:53
|
|||
What Candy? What Trees?
Don't bother
Tepid harm
Loosed theorums
Wove shadows
Carved a psychic cross
Upon my arm
The way you people tend
To fight is cause for fleeting
Alarm. I keep telling you
I told you so
Is salt upon a festering wound
Just like that girl named Karno
Said, there are some stones best
Left unturned, there are words even the
Most erudite could live without having said or learned.
The way the wave of pink noise
Bleeds through the sugar glass widows
The mayhem of well laid plans
Mocked from the gallery the plaintive
Procession of widows
Your best intentions fold like cherubs
In hell breezes
In narcissistic echoes
What tears your wings
Is also what pleases
It goes
It's going
It's gone
Raises a glass to waylay repast
The way his wormwood incites
Treason, whets the appetite of folly
Mars the bonnet of bonny reason
At last
Asks Scotch or Irish
Never stops pouring
Raise the jolly roger
Burn the past
Don't bother
Implode right before me
The breeze carries the rabid
Guffaws
Of
Gorgon Zola's
Never comforted
Baby
Named
Maybe.

FULL CODE

|

LYRICS ABRIDGED IN SONG
FOR DANA LEWIS.
Full Code.
Not this way
It wasn’t supposed to be this way
In out
In out
The machine indifferently aspirates
Delivers oxygen without question
In out
In out
Never once to deliberate
Whom it breathes for nor why
Just in out
In out
While we scream at you to wake up psychically
Show us your laughing smile periodically
In out
In out
Wave your arms in the air
Yellow and red lights flash
In out
In out
The nurse wants to kick us out
For talking to you reminding you to fight
In out
In out
I doubt I’ve ever seen more fear in those eyes
Do you know where you are
In out
In out
Do you realize you died
Not once but twice
In out
In out
You nod your head as the light returns to normal, the nurse tells us don’t speak to you
Anymore, but if speaking to my own soul is abnormal, then lock me outside with the feral and dull, throw me from this smoky window
Watch me fall
In out
In out
With our nine lives we land without doubt
Upon our sure feet until the floor drops
With our nine lives we wrestle with the therapists doing their jobs
We scratch and stretch about
In out
In out
Suctioning our mouths locked in a grotesque pout
In out
In out
Not this way, it wasn’t supposed to be this way. The machine machines on
In out
In out
Floating in a cloud of sedatives
While your heart beats
On off
On off
Epinephrine
Fentanyl
Heparin
Propofol
Can’t you hear me?
Blink for yes once
Two for no
We await your return
We don’t want you to go
In out
In out
In out
In out
In out
In...
