Eat 1. ***( from very spotty memory)*** When we have learned Nothing just Then lessons Become Rigidity ample Enough to kill... Yet here we go again To find those spaces Whence we sit and grip Wry witty sarcasm Sandwiches Wrapped ever so daintily In unrecyclable foil As we toil and spoil And rebuke and recoil... For we eat or we die Death hungry for more... When we have spurned All lessons and gleanings When we are wrought with Meaning Just give it time, it's all we can know My my John how you glow... Like crack pipes in a post drug war Ghetto... When we have learned Nothing We eat or we die Death Under the rotting. We eat or we die Life lessons forgotten. We eat or we die All humbly guffawing... We eat or we die Death greedy and gawking... We eat or we die... So vividly paltry... So son, learn... Eat and be happy. #axj23 #blaxpoetix

EAT 2: The Menu. She said: You look rather peckish...would you come to my place? He: I don't eat anything that has a face... She: I'll wear a mask if that's the case...you seem rather lonely, but a man of good taste... He said: I won't eat anything that has a face... And so they sat in this place Embracing Impasse And laze. A spoonful of sugar For a heart to replace... He said: I'd like to go now...just not to your place. She said: Well, I will feed you...if that's the case. He said: i don't eat anything that has a face... I never wonder what i have to replace. The coffee's cold and my soul is sore... It's early morning, still need to score... She said: Dear man, you are addicted to MORE... if you don't protest, I will hold the door... Wipe off your eyes, they show you're self absorbed... If we go now I can tell you more... And they sat in this Place Embracing Impasse and laze... Eyes blacked out now By death's mawkish gaze... They sat in this place Embracing Impasse and laze... And nobody noticed The slightly wavering haze as They lived out their days Regaling pomp and toasts, unphazed Around this maze of unheard words At a forlorn corner Table of ghosts Which fades. #axj23

I want to hold my breath Til blue At every single spot Camus A cigarette threw... Where Satre talked to whores I will wear thick glasses and walk in circles till my feet are sore. It's just a list But you can watch me express it... You've got no choice You're a stranger With no exit. I'll take my coffee where Baukanin did din... Visit the grave of Morrison with a wet sideways grin... Where Emma Goldman preached on soapboxes barely holding.. . it is there i wish my beholding... It's just a list You can watch me express it... You've no choice Circuses and bread So relentless...

EAT 4- Re(a)d Infinity The wildling in your eyes When you're looking at me Is like the rhythm of the razor in the Hand touching me... A codex so baffling Even Turing Shuns it readily The enigma of the razor in the rhythm Of the hands Making me... Such a comet is the smile Shared so easily Resigned to ephemeral whiles Sidereal guile Fate's luxury... The August fire in your eyes When you look at me Is like the rhythm of the razor In the hands I can no longer see... Why linger? Retreat To where stars Planets do eat...repeat Still image outside a black Hole for a century...if you could Only see The rhythm to the razor in the Hands of re(a)d infinity... What it does to me... The curled edges of novae The wildling fire in your eyes The way Sysiphus must have cried Prometheus laughing at fate's Luxury by and by...Medusa In a mirror cracks an awfully awkward smile... If you could only see... The rhythm to the razor In the hands Which swing a sword The Minotaur never sees.

Anthony Xavier Jackson October 21 at 12:27 PM · Eat 5... Has the Perrier gone straight to my head? Don't let yourself worry too long Vegans don't write swan songs... What will be will be... No prayers for milk nor honey... All I ask is your faith... It's up to you to believe... So don't you worry I'm down... On such feathers and fetters I frown...

Eat 6- Cannibals I am your words Your words which hurt. I am your ache Your afterbirth. I am your fragrance The sharp tinge of Arrogance... I am your words That you never keep. I am your silence Eat.

EAT 8- BILE 03:12
Eat 8- Bile Move on Bereft The convenience Of tried Truest siren Song Not to belong Be longed for Drawn loosely in. Move on When You do Have no slogans No need you No pograms No love you No nivarnas emerging I am not your best I am not your Friend... You move on Keep going... I was told I stopped listening This record Is skipping The gum tastes Funny Move on... Agave not honey Move on... Bereft Of worry... Love? Need? Greed... Move on Through me Fool me Cool me Agreed...

EAT 9- Spoiled Sad to say Homestead taken out By bomb I can't help myself I'm spoiled Used to being the ONE... Scorched Earth rebirth Was selling nice No one hollered Give you two for ONE The third is free For a dollar. So as you lie There Intrepid Wrapped up in bed Remember I am the ONE who has spoiled Who has bled I am the ONE tore the wall down Then fled. Smoke circles clearing Flotsom Jetsom all cast Ear to ground hearing The bombast that outlasts Reason's ransom on feelings... Sad to say It beguiles No village left To raise the child... The General ends his transmission All that empathy missing Tears and recoil Reports I'm sorry It's spoiled, it hurts A blindfolded sun So used to being the ONE... Dim the Fanfare and fun, son You can waltz a shotgun.

Eat 11. Higgs-Boson (draft) You sure got a pretty mouth Proclaimed the fool without a scratch Of doubt In your eyes shine light ever So wholesome It takes my breath Like the search For Higgs- Boson... Peer review what I feel for you Every infinitesimal mite of dust In Andromeda's stew... When your research is done You'll find me no less stunned My posture apropos Fills the throne of Cassiopeia, abiding in mirrors Said the fool in disguise Eyes bright as Betelgeuse Eyes bright, never clearer Eyes burn Tired yet wholesome You take my breath Like the search For Higgs- Boson.

Eat 12- Digest What have we learned Nothing Can return Nothing What had we cooked Nothing What did we look Nothing What did we taste Nothing For what make haste Nothing Now ain't that something Just Lessons are Ample In fervent example He who eats Eats himself Nothing Is Wealth Eat And be happy. Eat And be happy. Disregard all Stealth Bile Stamina and waste What we eats What's we make Ain't that the case What saves Face Nothing Now ain't That something Ain't that swell Eat and be happy Though it's fires Of Hell Ingest Digest Expel Noting Nothing's gonna Repel Nothing's hypnotic spell Ain't that something? about

THIS COLLECTION OF WRITING IS A DUPLICATION OF A SERIES I DID IN 1989 WHICH WAS SUBSEQUENTLY LOST IN THE SHUFFLE OF LIFE. SO, IN 2016 I DECIDED TO REWRITE THE SERIES FROM MEMORY AND SEE WHERE IT GOT ME.
THE THING ABOUT THE SET OF POEMS WRITTEN IN 89 IS I WAS 18 AND FULL OF IT... I WAS ALSO HIGHLY SUICIDAL AT THAT TIME DUE TO A SERIES OF REMARKABLY HORRID LIFE DECISIONS ON MY PART.
THE THEME OF EAT HAS TO DO MOSTLY WITH WHAT WE CHOOSE TO ALLOW OURSELVES TO BE VULNERABLE TO, HOW LIFE IS A SERIES OF DECISIONS LIKE BEING IN A VAST GROCERY STORE... SOME THINGS WE EAT MAKE US SICK, OTHERS NOURISH US... BUT, ALAS, DEATH HAS THE FINAL WORD, AND IS CERTAINLY NEVER SATISFIED... THUS THE FUTILITY OF SUICIDE... WE EAT OR WE DIE
DEATH HUNGRY FOR MORE...

I HOPE THIS COLLECTION SHEDS SOME LIGHT AND LEVITY ON THE OFTEN UNSPOKEN DARKNESS OF DEPRESSION. I HAVE DONE MY BEST TO SHOW MY INFLUENCES AND SOME HUMOR HERE. I AM, AFTER ALL, NEARLY 50 YEARS OLD NOW.

THANKS FOR LISTENING.

about

ANTHONY XAVIER JACKSON California

I am a spoken word artist whose passion is music. I use a variety of media to render my works, including traditional instrumentation such as guitar, bass and drums. I also employ synths and all the tools of my DAW to make improv pieces to back my poetry.
LPD, Burroughs, Tear Garden, Watts Prophets, Last Poets, Radiohead… so many influences.
Enjoy.
